“Undetectable means untransmittable” is the key slogan of the campaign states that thanks to taking medicine, undetectable viral load makes it impossible for sexual transmission of HIV.
The EVA Association is proud to join in and stand in support of the U = U Campaign.EVA Association’s Project Coordinator Ivetta Sergeeva says, “We know that in Russia many women who are in mixed status couples where one partner is HIV positive and the other, HIV negative. New data allows these couples to feel more comfortable, safer, and to be able to plan their lives and intimate relationships as they wish without fear.
New knowledge helps HIV positive women feel more confident and if they want, they do not have to be afraid to be open about their status with their partner”.
Today science provides more and more evidence that an undetectable viral load makes it impossible to transmit HIV by sexual contact, but in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region very few people know about this other than specialists. In July 2017 additional evidence that was received as part of the Opposite’s Attract research was presented, which proved that HIV is not transmittable if the viral load is undetectable. This research was conducted in Australia.
