12 specialists from HIV service non-profit organizations from five regions of the Russian Federation came to Petersburg to gain new experience and knowledge.

 

On the 28th and 29th of August a training was held in Saint Petersburg. Twelve specialists from HIV service non-profit organizations from five regions in the RF and their colleagues from Saint Petersburg and Leningrad oblast gathered to learn new information and refresh their knowledge.

 

The main informational sections of the training were chosen by the participants themselves in advance. The most highly requested topics were ART and issues of peer counseling, AIDS dissidents, tuberculosis, and also preventing burnout for staff in HIV service non-profits.

 

The training took place as part of the project entitled Peer Counseling Patients: Adherence and Quality of ART.

 

Time frame: August – December 2016.

 

Regions: Ekaterinburg, Perm, Krasnodar, Samara, Novosibirsk.

 

Target: provide clients living with HIV access to quality services in AIDS centers including counseling on issues of adherence to and quality of ART.

 

Objectives:

 

— Increase patients’ awareness of issues relating to adherence and quality of ART.

 

— Allow patients to interact with the medical community.
